The teen drama “Riverdale” on The CW is renowned for its bizarre storyline turns that amuse and horrify viewers. In the sixth season, the show infuses supernatural elements into the lives of the main characters with “Rivervale,” a five-episode event. But viewers are still perplexed by issues raised by the season 5 finale and the first episode of season 6 finale.
Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), who is caught in an explosion in the season 5 finale and is sacrificed by his pals in a pagan ceremony in the season 6 opener, has left everyone wondering what will become of him. He is he alive or dead? He’s not here. Let’s investigate!
Is Archie Andrews Dead or Alive in Riverdale?
After Hiram is banished at the end of season 5, we see Archie and Betty huddling in bed. The former mafia boss, however, hides a bomb under the couple’s mattress. We subsequently witness Archie’s house on fire, despite the fact that he discovers the bomb after hearing it tick.
Fans anticipated that the season 6 premiere will resolve this enormous cliff-hanger. The first episode of season 6 shows Archie and Betty planning their future while cohabitating blissfully, but things are not as they appear. Their community, Rivervale, appears to be entirely distinct from Riverdale. And no one seems to have any memories of their lives in Riverdale! However, Betty consoles Archie after he has a nightmare about the bomb blast.
The episode’s constant ticking underscores how Rivervale’s universe is both related to and distinct from Riverdale’s. It’s likely that Rivervale is a parallel world or reality, a Riverdale that completely embraces evil supernatural forces.
In the latest episode of Riverdale, Cheryl channels her inner witch to win Betty, Toni, Fangs, Tabitha, and Jughead over. She uses her successful shamanic treatments and life advice to conceive Archie’s child despite Dr. Curdle’s assessment that she is nearly infertile. Betty utilises Cheryl’s “sin pie” and a fertility poppet to get pregnant for Archie’s sake.
Jughead acts as the storyteller and confirms Archie’s demise while acting as an audience member. La Llorona, a furious maternal spirit that preys on children, is the centre of episode 2 of season 6.
It appears that Archie is deceased in the “Rivervale” universe. The only time Archie is mentioned in the episode is when Betty says she wants to name her son Archie. Later, we notice that Tabitha’s home has an empty milk carton with an Archie poster on it. And no one seemed to be feeling guilty at all!
“Rivervale” could represent Archie’s fever dream or coma. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the show’s creator, said that “Archie is not in a coma due to the blast”. The series’ creator also affirmed that Archie is still dead in episode 2 of season 6. Additional deaths are to be anticipated.

Where is Archie Andrews Presently?
People seem to be suffering both their finest and worst imaginable fates in Riverdale’s alternate reality. “I think eyebrows could have been raised if we had suggested that everyone in Riverdale band together to sacrifice Archie for their own interests. Even in Rivervale, people were raising their eyebrows as it was, but we allowed ourselves to make the characters a little bit more extreme, said Aguirre-Sacasa.
Archie’s passing offers an intriguing opportunity to examine the other characters’ shadowy side as well as the influence of a decent person on a town’s populace. The upcoming episodes are likely to discuss Archie’s future. Additionally, the remainder of season 6 will probably return to the “Riverdale” universe after episode 5, where we will truly learn about Archie and Betty’s condition following the explosion. The couple might be receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
It’s also conceivable that the pair manages to survive the explosion. We don’t believe that Archie, the show’s main character, will be eliminated from the “Riverdale” universe. Archie, however, has passed away in “Rivervale.” Archie will probably remain dead in the “Rivervale” reality unless Cheryl or other witchy characters—like Sabrina Spellman from “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” who makes an appearance this season—use some spells or try necromancy.
