Who is Anthony Fauci?
Anthony Stephen Fauci OMRI is a physician, researcher, and immunologist from the United States. He is now serving as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) as well as the Chief Medical Advisor to the President.
Anthony Fauci Early Life and Education
Born on December 24, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York City, Anthony Fauci is the son of Stephen and Eugenia Fauci. Anthony’s father ran a drugstore in the neighborhood, and his mother worked in the business with her husband. Fauci was raised by devout Catholic parents in the Bensonhurst area of Brooklyn. While growing up in Brooklyn, Anthony Fauci attended Regis High Institution, an elite Jesuit school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Fauci attended College of the Holy Cross after finishing high school in 1958, majoring in classics and pre-med. He earned his BA in 1962. Before attending medical school at Cornell University, Anthony worked summers as a construction worker. He earned his MD degree in 1966 and was first in his class.
A Figure of Mass Culture
People tend to either like or despise Dr. Fauci, depending on their view on the pandemic.
He has been the topic of numerous media appearances, including a satire on “Saturday Night Live” and a biographical documentary titled “Fauci” on National Geographic. In the early days of the outbreak, he sparred with President Trump and has since fended off criticism from other Republican leaders, most notably Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.).
Dr. Fauci takes criticism and dissenting ideas with a somewhat casual attitude. “I go to my favorite book of philosophy, ‘The Godfather,’ and say, ‘It’s nothing personal, it’s just business,'” he told The New Yorker of his approach to dealing with political leaders during a crisis.
‘You’re simply a worker,’ he elaborated. A person should not be ridiculed for their behavior, no matter how absurd it may be. As difficult as it may be, you must contend with them. You can’t be involved if you avoid confronting them.
However, the public largely admired him for his efforts to get people vaccinated, even though many of those who got their shots early on called them the “Fauci ouchie.”
What is the Net Worth of Anthony Fauci?
Dr. Fauci is the highest-paid federal employee, earning more than the President of the United States does, and his reported net worth is at least $10.5 million, making him the highest-paid federal employee overall.
Dr. Anthony Fauci is now serving as the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), as well as the 5th Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
