An American actress, director, singer, and dancer by the name of Jasmine Guy. She is well-known for playing Dina in the 1988 film School Daze and for playing Whitley Gilbert-Wayne on the NBC spinoff of The Cosby Show, A Different World, which ran from 1987 to 1993.

From 1990 to 1993, Guy received four straight NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on the programme. She portrayed Sheila “Grams” Bennet on The Vampire Diaries and Roxy Harvey on Dead Like Me, respectively. She most recently appeared in Grey’s Anatomy as Gemma, Richard Webber’s friend and prospective love interest.

In Boston, Massachusetts, she was born on March 10, 1962. The Reverend Willam Guy is her father, and Jaye Rudolph is her mother.

Jasmine’s mother had previously taught high school, and her father was the pastor of Atlanta’s illustrious Friendship Baptist Church, which had once housed Spelman College. Her father also taught philosophy and theology at the undergraduate level. Monica Guy is the name of her sister.
