‘The Black Phone’ Confirm: Release Date ,casting, Storyline, Trailer, and Much More!

The Black Phone is not for those who are easily offended. The upcoming film is a genre mash-up, featuring apparent horror elements such as jump scares, ghosts, and hideous masks alongside a strong thriller tone, as the protagonist, 13-year-old Finney Shaw, has a limited amount of time to escape a kidnapper before becoming another victim of the killer. The film’s elements of horror and suspense will undoubtedly make fans’ hearts race in the theatre.

The Black Phone is adapted from Joe Hill’s 2004 short film of the same name. Ethan Hawke, who previously starred in Derrickson’s 2013 thriller Sinister, plays “The Grabber,” a serial killer with a huge mythos akin to other horror icons such as Pennywise – Hawke apparently disregarded his “no villain” rule to play the job. Finney is played by Mason Thames, Gwen is played by Madeleine McGraw, and Max is played by James Ransone, another Derrickson regular.

When is The Black Phone scheduled to be released?

Because the picture was originally scheduled to open on February 4 with Moonfall and Jackass Forever, delaying its release may be a way to avoid an overcrowded weekend. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, starring Tom Holland, and Death of the Nile, from 20th Century Studios, will be published in September. Despite the release of large-budget films such as Jurassic World: Dominion and Pixar’s Lightyear in June, the month appears abnormally quiet, with Warner Brothers’ Elvis, starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks and directed by Chris Columbus, being the month’s only other notable release on June 24.

Despite the fact that The Black Phone is not scheduled to open in theatres until next year, the film now boasts a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with 11 reviews. Before directing Doctor Strange, Derrickson directed a string of popular horror films, including The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister. According to the critical response thus far and the horrific trailer, all indications point to this horror film being another box office smash for the director.

After being postponed, The Black Phone will now open in theatres on June 24, 2022. The film’s trailer, which debuted in October, is included below.

What Will The Black Phone’s Theme Be?

Parents should exercise caution when seeing this video since it contains scenes of child abduction and murder, which are difficult subjects for some parents.

Joe Hill (author of the NOS4A2 novel) inspired The Black Phone with a short story. Finney Shaw, a 13-year-old boy, is abducted and ends up in the sound-proofed basement of an enigmatic killer known only as “The Grabber,” an effeminate man with paper-white skin. According to the trailer, he discovers them anytime a child mentions his name, which looks to be an oversight on Finney’s part. A single dirty mattress and a disconnected rotary phone are found in the basement with him, probably left on the wall in a sadistic manner of tormenting his victims.

Finney’s amazement will be compounded when the phone rings and the Grabber’s prior victims respond. They assist Finney in planning his escape by drawing on their own failed attempts to halt the killer’s rampage. Meanwhile, his sister Gwen begins to see visions of Finney imprisoned, which she uses to locate him before he meets the same fate as the previous victims.

Cast and crew of ‘The Black Phone’

The Black Phone’s cast and staff are incredible.

The film’s antagonist is The Grabber, a violent masked assassin played by Ethan Hawke.

Mason Thames portrays Finney Shaw, a timid but intelligent 13-year-old kidnapped and imprisoned in The Grabber’s basement.

Madeline McGraw’s Finney’s pious yet vivacious sister is hell-bent on locating her long-lost brother.

The horror film’s creative crew is highly talented.

Scott Derrickson is the director of Doctor Strange, a critically acclaimed Marvel picture, as well as the horror blockbusters Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and Deliver Us From Evil.

Scott Derrickson has partnered with Blumhouse Productions and horror icon Jason Blum on this project. Blumhouse is a horror industry giant, including popular series such as Paranormal Activity and Insidious. Blumhouse Productions is collaborating on the film with Universal Pictures.
