Filming for Noah Hawley’s Alien series has concluded, and the show now has a title. At Disney’s Investor Day in 2020, it was revealed that the creator of FX’s Fargo and Legion would be contributing to the network’s Alien television series.

Although the next movie Alien: Romulus has received the majority of press, fans have been waiting for additional information about the television series Alien, which Hawley has now supplied.

Hawley announced the name of the television series, Alien: Earth, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Filming, which started in 2023 but was postponed because to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes last summer, has apparently concluded. Hawley is now editing the series and believes viewers will enjoy it:

“I’m editing away in post, and there’s definitely a big visual effects component that takes time. However, I’m ecstatic about the program we shot. I believe I’ll give the fans of the Alien universe something truly unique if they desired a television show set in that universe.

Alien’s Protracted Journey to the Small Screen

The Alien franchise appeared to be coming to an end in 2017 when Disney started talks to acquire 20th Century Fox and Alien: Covenant crashed at the box office. Supporters questioned how the R-rated series would fit into the overall Disney scheme.

When Alien: Earth was first announced in 2020, a year after Disney formally acquired 20th Century Fox, the studio was placing a strong emphasis on streaming movies and TV shows, thus it initially appeared as though it was destined for streaming.

Disney and 20th Century Studios have since created ambitious plans for the film Alien. Similar to how Marvel and Star Wars are able to support full-length movies and television shows, Alien also hopes to accomplish the same.

Alien: Earth is probably going to come out in 2025, five years after the series was first planned. Alien: Romulus releases in theaters on August 16. Although Alien: Earth is a prequel to the 1979 film Alien, Hawley has previously stated that it will not address the events of Alien: Covenant and Prometheus.

Essie Davis, Sydney Chandler, and Alex Lawther are the stars of Alien: Earth. Timothy Olyphant from Justified is filling in the synth role that each entry in Alien needs.

Fans should be thrilled because Hawley has the capacity to take properties like X-Men and Fargo and make them into critically acclaimed television shows. The science fiction series could return to its former grandeur with Alien: Earth and Alien: Romulus.
