Rucker’s first solo album, “Back to Then,” was released in 2002 but failed to achieve much success, peaking at number 127 on the Billboard 200.
They first connected while attending the University of South Carolina as freshmen, and a few years later they released two Extended Plays on tape.
“Carolyn Pearl Phillips,” the first child of Rucker and his girlfriend “Elizabeth Ann Phillips,” was born in 1995.
Hootie & the Blowfish reunited in 2019 for a tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cracked Rear View. They released “Imperfect Circle” the same year, and it peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100.
His non-profit Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation has raised almost 4.5 million dollars to help South Carolina’s public schools.
