Michael Chandler, also known as ‘Iron Mike,’ was born in Missouri on January 6, 1986. During his time wrestling for the University of Missouri, he was recognised as an NCAA Division I All-American. Early success in football and wrestling influenced his decision to pursue Mixed Martial Arts.

Chandler has an impressive MMA record. His record is 22 wins and 7 losses. Iron Mike made his MMA debut in August 2009 at First Blood OFC as a welterweight. Following his successful debut, he joined the Strikeforce immediately.

He then lost his title to Brent Primus in June 2017 at Bellator NYC, only to reclaim it 18 months later. Then, Chandler challenged Patricio Freire and lost his title once more. After nearly a year and a half, he joined the UFC and, after defeating Dan Hooker at UFC 257, is 1-0 in the largest MMA promotion in the world.

However, he earned a staggering $253,500 for his debut victory over Dan Hooker at UFC 257. Prior to Bellator 106, when he was defeated by Eddie Alvarez by split decision, Chandler earned the most money in a fight. That day, he earned a massive $95,000.
