Roger Allan Jenkins, born on September 30, 1955, is a former international athlete and British investor. From 1994 to 2009, he held several positions at Barclays, including CEO of Barclays Capital’s Private Equity Group and, commencing in April 2008, Executive Chairman of Investment Banking and Investment Management for the Middle East.

In the summer of 2009, he left Barclays and joined the BTG Pactual Investment Committee and Management Committee, where he remained until 2013.

In June and October of 2008, he played a key role in getting over 9 billion pounds in financing for Barclays Group from a range of sources, including the Qatar Investment Authority, commanded by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani.

Roger Jenkins was born in September 1955 in England. Jenkins attended Edinburgh Academy before enrolling in Heriot-Watt University’s economics degree. In 1975, he placed second at the World Student Games as a skilled sprinter. Before joining Barclays as a graduate trainee, he worked for BP.

Roger held numerous positions at Barclays, including CEO of the Private Equity Group for Barclays Capital and Executive Chairman of Middle East Investment Banking and Investment Management. He was responsible for convincing the royal families of Abu Dhabi and Qatar to invest £7.3 billion in Barclays in 2008.
