Stephen King has published over 60 novels (including seven under the pen name Richard Bachman) and six non-fiction books as of this writing.

Prior to settling down in Durham, Maine, the family relocated to Wisconsin, Indiana, and Connecticut.

Several of them, including “Carrie,” “It,” “Stand by Me,” “The Shawshank Redemption,” “The Stand,” “Misery,” and “The Shining,” have been adapted into popular films or miniseries. He is frequently known as the King of Horror.

As a child, King was with a friend who was struck and killed by a train. His relatives informed him that when King left the house to play with the youngster, he returned stunned and shocked. The family learned of the boy’s passing later that day.

In Lisbon Falls, Maine, Stephen attended Durham Elementary and Lisbon Falls High. King graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Arts in English. In college, he contributed to the school newspaper.
