American comedy-drama show Never Have I Ever is about a girl coming of age. It stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and was made by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher.
Even though the show is set in the San Fernando Valley, it is based on Kaling’s childhood in the Boston area. It came out on Netflix on April 27, 2020, and is about an Indian-American high school student who has to deal with her father’s sudden death. Most of the reviews for the show were positive.
People have said that the show is a turning point for how South Asians are portrayed in Hollywood and have praised it for breaking South Asian stereotypes.
Netflix renewed the show for a second season on July 1, 2020. The second season began on July 15, 2021. Netflix renewed the show on August 19, 2021, for the third season, which came out on August 12, 2022, and had 10 episodes. A fourth and final season is set to come out in 2023.
Devi Vishwakumar, a 15-year-old Indian-American Tamil girl from Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, is at the center of the story.
Devi loses the feeling in her legs after her father Mohan dies suddenly. This happens because the event was so traumatic for her mind, and she can’t walk for three months.
But one day, by some miracle, she gets better and stands up, so she can try to crush Paxton Hall-Yoshida. She wants to change her social status after having a bad freshman year, but her friends, family, and feelings make it hard for her.
She tries to deal with her grief, her identity, and school life the next year. All of this is happening while she is also having trouble with how she talks to her mother, Nalini.
Devi also has to deal with her feelings for Paxton and Ben after she cheats on them both with each other. Aneesa Qureshi, who is new to the school, adds to the mix. The series shows how Devi deals with all of this on a daily basis.
John McEnroe, a professional tennis player, narrates most of Never Have I Ever for Devi. Two of the episodes are narrated by Andy Samberg for Ben, and one is narrated by Gigi Hadid for Paxton.
