Priscilla Presley is talking candidly about her marriage to Elvis Presley failing.
Priscilla gave her honest assessment of Sofia Coppola’s 2023 film Priscilla at a panel discussion at MegaCon Orlando earlier last month, acknowledging that the film’s conclusion fell flat.
Based on her own memoir, Elvis in Me, the movie tells the story of Priscilla’s six-year marriage to the “Suspicious Minds” crooner and their love affair.
Priscilla acknowledged that the film’s conclusion didn’t quite satisfy her, even though she claimed at first she wasn’t concerned about Coppola’s ability to tell their narrative.
“The conclusion was the only issue. According to PEOPLE, Priscilla, 79, stated at the panel, “I wasn’t really happy about the ending.” “It didn’t end that way, and we ended—Elvis and I ended very lovingly.”
Elvis and Priscilla divorced in 1973 after getting married in 1967 and having their first and only child, Lisa Marie Presley, in 1968. According to reports, they stayed close until the musician passed away in 1977 at the age of 42.
After breaking up with Elvis, Priscilla’s character is seen leaving Graceland and getting into her car in Coppola’s film, which stars Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny as the well-known couple. With “I Will Always Love You” playing in the background, the film concludes with her driving off.
“We continued to maintain our relationship. “We did,” Priscilla clarified at the panel on February 7. “He would drop by my home unannounced, and I was going with someone by the way, and he would come unannounced.”
“Thank God it was two o’clock in the morning, and I knew who it was, so I quickly tried to get to the door before he rang the doorbell, and of course he came in, we went in the kitchen, we talked for a couple of hours.”
Priscilla claimed that after discovering letters from other women demonstrating his adultery, she made the decision to leave.
“He was famous, he was loving, he was a beautiful, beautiful man,” she said. “I simply couldn’t handle it.” For me, it was simply not a nice life.
