It’s worth staying after the credits have rolled since The Monkey is said to have a post-credits scene that serves as a promo for director Osgood Perkins’ upcoming film.
In Keeper, Rossif Sutherland and Tatiana Maslany play Liz and Malcolm, a couple celebrating their anniversary at a remote cabin for a romantic weekend. Liz is left alone when Malcolm has abruptly return to the city, and she is joined by a “unspeakable evil” that reveals the “horrifying secrets” of the cabin. Maslany plays the lead in The Monkey as well.
With its October 2025 release date, the picture will be Perkins’ third in the 15 months since Longlegs debuted in theaters in July 2024. On a budget of less than $10 million, the Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe-starring film earned over $125 million at the worldwide box office and was praised by both reviewers and viewers.
Regarding The Monkey, Perkins’ Longlegs sequel is based on King’s short story of the same name and centers on twin brothers Hal and Bill (both portrayed by Theo James), who, after finding their father’s toy monkey in the attic as kids, witnessed a series of horrific deaths.
After trying to move on from their history and part ways, the brothers are confronted with mortality once more as adults and must make amends in order to finally eradicate the toy primate.
