It will take a little longer for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 to hit theaters.
As per Hollywood Reporter, the next film starring the Marvel superhero will now be released in theaters one week later on July 31, 2026. The film, which has no title yet, is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).
This modification offers the project more time before Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which also stars Holland and opens in theaters on July 17, 2026, comes out. The cast of Universal’s movie adaptation of Homer’s epic poem is rounded out by Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron.
Paw Patrol 3, an animated film by Paramount, is also scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.
Holland last appeared on cinema as the valiant webslinger in Spider-Man: No Way Home, released in 2021 and grossing over $1.9 billion worldwide. Jon Watts, who directed Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), was the director of that movie.
The next Spider-Man movie was written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, who had previously written No Way Home.
The newest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Brave New World, was released in theaters last week. In order to enable the well-known character to join the MCU, Sony, the company that owns the film rights to Spider-Man, partnered with Disney in 2015.
Marvel fans can look forward to Thunderbolts in May and Disney’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which opens in theaters on July 25. Robert Downey Jr. will play Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release next year.
Holland is set to co-star with Austin Butler in the crime film American Speed, which is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios, according to a story published late last year by The Hollywood Reporter.
