The trailer for “Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie,” a buddy comedy-documentary hybrid that follows the legendary stoner duo’s career, has been published by Keep Smokin’.
“‘Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie’ defies documentary expectations, offering a wildly imaginative take on genre convention; a true-life tale told through a mix of animation and archival madness, all underscored by a classic cinematic road trip comedy,” is the official logline for the film.
Interviews, sketches, and never-before-seen video from the five-decade career of groundbreaking comics Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are all included in this film, which chronicles their lasting legacy. The end result is an improbable tale of fame and friendship, conflict and defiance, revolt, and, finally, redemption.
The trailer shows Marin and Chong in a black Cadillac with a marijuana leaf hood ornament as they drive across the desert. “Are you certain we’re headed in the right direction?” Marin queries. Chong retorts, “We’re in the middle of fucking nowhere.” “No, we are southwest of fucking nowhere,” Marin replies with a sardonic expression.
We haven’t reached the midpoint yet. Alongside Marin and Chong, record producer Lou Adler also appears in the movie.
Here is the trailer:
Alongside Robbi Chong, David Bushell acts as both producer and director. Christian Selleron, Cleo Segura Sherrel, Gary Haseley, and John Paul DeJoria are executive producers.
Chong and Marin have made 25 appearances together, including their big-screen debut in “Up in Smoke” in 1978. The teaser claims that their first movies had made “over $200 million.”
The limited release of “Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie” begins on April 20 and will expand countrywide on April 25.
