Entrepreneur Sara Davies has declared her intention to temporarily withdraw from shooting Dragons’ Den to concentrate on her own business endeavors. The television presenter, author, and entrepreneur entered the BBC program in 2019 at the age of 35, becoming the youngest female Dragon in the show’s history after Jenny Campbell’s exit.
In an Instagram post, she stated: “Brief update from me….. As this final season of Dragons’ concludes, I must express my profound enjoyment of this series and my pride in the firms I have invested in this year.
I have resumed my role as CEO of Crafter’s Companion, and my business is my primary focus this year. When I engage with a firm, I fully dedicate myself, which is why I consider my work on Dragons’ Den to be quite fulfilling. In addition to producing an exceptional program, being a Dragon necessitates substantial commitment and effort invested behind the scenes as you engage with the operations of each business in which you invest.
“It signifies understanding your investment and fulfilling your responsibilities within that organization.” It transcends the realm of a mere television program.
I have decided to temporarily withdraw from the Den to concentrate on my own firm, which was my initial venture. I will not be participating in filming with the team for the upcoming series this year.
The 40-year-old concluded her tweet with: “Sending abundant love to my fellow Dragons and the remarkable team supporting it all.” In the meanwhile, you can still find me in the latter portion of this season of Dragons’ Den later this year – it will not disappoint!
Davies established the global enterprise Crafter’s Companion, a retail business specializing in craft equipment, which she initiated in her bedroom during her undergraduate studies in 2005. Reports indicate that earlier this year, Davies reacquired a significant stake in the company, resuming his role as chief executive.
The entrepreneur from County Durham was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2016, acknowledged for contributions to the economy. In 2021, entrepreneur and novelist Steven Bartlett became the youngest Dragon in the program’s history at the age of 28.
In 2021, Davies participated in the celebrity roster of Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with Aljaz Skorjanec. She has recently appeared on film as the anchor of BBC One’s The Big Idea Works, a program that connects regular individuals with innovative product ideas to those capable of actualizing them.
This week, it was reported that she will host a new “high-stakes” quiz show on ITV titled Time Is Money. Kalpna Patel-Knight, the head of entertainment commissioning at the BBC, stated: “Sara has been an outstanding Dragon, investing in numerous entrepreneurs throughout her tenure in the Den.” We extend our best wishes to her and anticipate her return in future episodes.
