The Accountant 2 trailer has been released.
Gavin O’Connor returns to direct the sequel to his 2016 picture, which stars Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and others including John Lithgow and Jean Smart. Bill Dubuque, who wrote the script for The Accountant, returned to compose the follow-up.
Simmons, Addai-Robinson, and Bernthal will reprise their roles as Ray King, Marybeth Medina, and Brax, respectively, while Affleck returns as Christian Wolff.
The film will be released in theaters on April 25, 2025, and will follow Addai-Robinson’s Agent Medina as she is forced to seek help from Affleck’s Wolff to solve the unexplained death of her former boss by unknown assassins. Brax, Bernthal’s estranged and exceedingly dangerous brother, will also participate in the action.
The ensemble cast of the film includes Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, Robert Morgan, and Grant Harvey.
Kendrick is not scheduled to return. She will, however, return to another Amazon MGM Studios sequel, Another Simple Favor, which will be released in March during the SXSW Film Festival. However, the follow-up to 2019’s A Simple Favor will be released exclusively on streaming platforms. Lionsgate distributed the first film.
The Accountant’s theatrical release by Warner Bros in 2016 grossed $155 million globally, making it the most-rented picture of 2017. It is currently streaming on Max.
Artists Equity is the studio for the sequel, which was established at Amazon MGM after Affleck and Matt Damon’s business purchased the sequel rights from Warner Bros.
This will be the two companies’ fourth collaboration, following Jennifer Lopez’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, the Affleck and Damon-starring sports marketing drama Air, and the upcoming Unstoppable, based on the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles (played by Jharrel Jerome).
