Saoirse Ronan got married a while ago!
According to the register of Scottish civil marriages documents, the 30-year-old, four-time Oscar nominee, married her longterm companion and costar from Mary Queen of Scots, Jack Lowden, earlier this year.
According to the Irish Independent, the small-scale wedding, which took place in the Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office in Lowden’s home Scotland on the weekend of July 20, only included a few of their closest friends and relatives.
When Lowden, 34, and Ronan starred together in the film Mary Queen of Scots, in which she played Mary Stuart and he played the monarch’s husband, Lord Darnley, in December 2018, rumors of their romance began to circulate. That same month, rumors that they were dating started to circulate.
They had become more than simply pals, and Page Six was the first to show this. But when questioned a year later about the rumors circulating about her relationship with Lowden, the Little Women actress denied the romance.
In December 2019, an inquiry was made by a reporter for The Telegraph, asking whether it was OK for them to question the person with whom they believed the subject was going out. The conversation came to an end when Ronan responded, “No.”
In February 2019, Lowden told ES Magazine, “Oh, I’m not going to talk about that,” a response to the rumors circulating about their romantic lives. I prefer not to discuss that aspect of life.
Rumors persisted, though, as pictures of Lowden and Ronan hanging around outside her London home in 2020 were published by the Daily Mail, and in 2021, following the conclusion of a theater production of The Tragedy of Macbeth, Lowden was seen offering some support to Ronan.
They also started to appear on each other’s social media in 2022 and were spotted together at the Australian Open. Ronan appeared on Lowden’s Instagram in a few different postings in 2022 (all of which have since been removed), and then Lowden posted a selection of images from a trip to Japan in 2023, some of which featured Ronan.
To celebrate the new year, the two took and posted a mirror selfie in December 2023. “Lang, NYE May your Lum Reek. We’re all fans, whether we’re good or bad,” Lowden wrote as the photo’s caption.
In June, Lowden uploaded a romantic picture of himself holding Ronan to his grid and shared videos of the two of them visiting the Glastonbury music festival in England on Instagram Stories.
