Some Fans Are Super Confused By The Trailer of ‘Shrek 5’

This week, we received our first glimpse of the Shrek 5 teaser trailer, which has left a lasting impression on series devotees. It’s nostalgic to hear the returning cast of Eddie Murphy as Donkey, Cameron Diaz as Fiona, and Mike Myers as Shrek, even if many people compare the old and new Shrek.

Naturally, we can’t ignore the newest member of the family, Zendaya from Euphoria, who voices Felicia, the daughter of Shrek and Fiona. Even though the majority of the actors is returning to their roles from decades ago, will Shrek 5 disregard the earlier entries in this upcoming installment? There are some early hints in this first teaser that make us wonder if the franchise will continue.

Fans have noted that Zendaya is the only actor who has been added to the cast as a family member, even though we haven’t seen the full-length Shrek 5 teaser yet. For viewers of the earlier Shrek movies, particularly Shrek 3 and Shrek Forever After, Shrek and Fiona had three children: Fergus, Felicia, and Farkle, a girl, and two boys.

The sons are entirely absent from the cast announcement trailer, leaving us to wonder where they could be. However, we do see the daughter.

Since the triplets brought both peace and upheaval to Shrek and Fiona’s lives, their involvement was a major theme in the final two sequels.

The introduction of the children caused Shrek a great deal of stress, which was addressed in Shrek 3 in the notorious baby Shrek scene and in a more overbearing part in Shrek 4, where our main ogre became weary of being a family man and made a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to become a “real ogre” again. The film’s resolution demonstrated Shrek’s willingness to provide for his family and be the best parent he could be.

Now that we know this, we can only assume that the brothers were either not seen until the trailer or that they may have left for college. Given that we don’t know for sure how old the ogres are, this may be a bit much to ask, but it’s something to think about.

Rumor has claimed that the movie is set in a multiverse, which might mean that the brothers are in a different world. Given that Shrek is based in a fantasy world and still has the ability to view memes of himself in the Magic Mirror, this could be a smart assumption.

Although it would be disappointing if the other children from the earlier films weren’t included in the plot, Felicia’s presence in the movie ensures that we will eventually get to see the full Shrek family. But that time is a long, long way off.
