Hamza Yusuf is a Scottish politician who is serving as the leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) since 27 March 2023. Hamza Yusuf’s full name is Hamza Haroon Yousaf. He was born on April 7, 1985, in Glasgow, Scotland.
He served as Justice Secretary under First Minister Nicola Sturgeon from 2018 to 2021 and later as Health Secretary from 2021. Since 2016 He has been a member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Glasgow Pollock constituency, having previously represented the Glasgow region from 2011- 2016.

On 27 March, he won the election with 52% of the vote and was announced as the next First Minister. “Mr. Humza Yousaf will be a First Minister for the whole of Scotland.
I will work every minute of every day to earn your respect and your trust. Serving my country as First Minister has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life and would be respected,” he said after winning the leadership.

Mr. Humra Yusuf was educated at Hutchinson’s Grammar School, an independent day school.
Yusuf briefly studied politics at the University of Glasgow in the mid-2000s.
He became head of the Glasgow University Muslim Students‘ Union in 2005 and joined the SNP around the same time. According to the university’s website, he graduated in 2007 with an MA.
