According to Rob Lowe, there will be a St. Elmo’s Fire sequel.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Monday, July 29, Lowe, sixty, hinted to the project.

“We’ve had meetings with the studio, and I’ve been discussing doing it for roughly four months,” the actor said on his plans for a possible sequel. In the 1985 film St. Elmo’s Fire, Lowe, along with fellow Brat Packers Andrew McCarthy, Emilio Estevez, Demi Moore, Ally Sheedy, and Judd Nelson, portrayed themselves as recent college grads acclimating to the highs and lows of early life.

In his twenties and at the pinnacle of his attractiveness, Lowe donned a mullet and a sculpted jawline to portray the disturbed saxophonist Billy Hicks.

The Hulu documentary Brats, which starred McCarthy as broody writer Kevin Dolenz and detailed his struggles with the moniker “Brat Pack,” which was created by journalist David Blum of New York magazine the year St. Elmo’s Fire debuted in theaters, was published in June.

McCarthy, 61, accuses Blum of putting a stop to his acting career, while Lowe, who makes a cameo appearance in the documentary, has accepted his place in the Brat Pack—a cast of performers that personified 1980s youth culture and starred in popular coming-of-age films like Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club.

Regarding a prospective St. Elmo’s Fire follow-up, Lowe stated to Entertainment Tonight that the hype surrounding Brats has “only increased.”

He clarified, “But it’s very, very, very, very early stages.” “Well, we’ll see.”

As of right now, Lowe and his son John Owen Lowe are traveling the press circuit in anticipation of the August 1 release of the second season of their Netflix comedy Unstable. (John Owen, 29, refers to St. Elmo’s Fire as “St. Elmers” despite having never seen it.)

During his July 25 interview on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, John Owen talked about his “mental breakdown” that occurred two weeks into the first season of the show’s filming.

“I went into my trailer after leaving the set and exclaimed, ‘Oh sh*t.'” I am now his costar since I was attempting to separate myself from him and become my own person. “I’ll be doing press with him, and my face is next to his on a one-sheet,” he recounted. “It’s funny, but I remember calling my representatives when all these realizations hit me.”

According to John Owen, his representatives told him to “chill out” since being unstable would be beneficial. He and his father satirize the real-life interplay of a father and son, playing the fictional characters Ellis and Jackson Dragon. (Lowe calls his older brother, 31-year-old Matthew Lowe, his “civilian son.” Lowe shares these two men with his wife, Sheryl Berkoff.)

A rarity in Hollywood, Lowe and Berkoff, 63, are makeup artists who have been blissfully married for thirty years. It is said that Lowe’s Brat Pack companion Estevez, 62, introduced them in 1983. Lowe paid a lovely homage to Berkhoff on Instagram on July 22, the day of their 33rd wedding anniversary.

With a goofy selfie of her, he added, “My Love Bug has given me 33 years of love, passion, and understanding.” “I’m incredibly fortunate when you add in a few of outstanding young men. Sweetheart, happy anniversary! Xoxox.
