The 37-year-old soccer star hurt a ligament in his right ankle during the Copa América final on July 14. He wore a walking boot while spending time on a boat with his wife Antonela Roccuzzo.
Roccuzzo, who married Messi in 2017, posted some pictures from the day on the water on Instagram on July 22. The woman wore a pink two-piece bikini that went well with her husband’s red swim trunks, and they posed for a picture while sitting on the boat.
Luis Suarez, who plays for Inter Miami with Messi, his wife Sofia Balbi, and Sofia’s sister Mariana and her partner were also on the boat.
Roccuzzo, along with the couple’s three sons — Thiago, 11, Mateo, 8, and Ciro, 6 — were present when Argentina triumphed over Colombia in the Copa América final at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium earlier this month. “CHAMPIONS OF AMERICA 🇦🇷 🇦🇷 🇦🇷🇦🇷,” Roccuzzo wrote as the caption of a family photo taken on the field after the game. “LET’S GO ARGENTINA!!!”
Because he was hurt, Messi had to leave the game in the 64th minute. After lying on the ground for a while, the Argentine forward took off his right boot and slowly walked off the field.
He didn’t play again, and he sat on the bench crying and upset for the rest of the game. He was able to celebrate with his friends when they won 1-0.
